PRESS RELEASE
On December 9, 2022, at approximately 10:30 p.m. Troopers were dispatched to 26 Main Street, Parksville (town of Liberty) for a report of a carjacking in progress. A preliminary investigation revealed that the owner of a 2018 Subaru Forester was driving home when he was flagged down by female who asked for a ride. The unknown female got in the vehicle on the passenger and began striking the operator of the vehicle in the face. Another person got into the backseat of the vehicle and began striking the operator. He was pushed out of the vehicle and the two individuals fled the area in the vehicle. Troopers located the vehicle traveling west on State Route 17 in the town of Thompson and initiated a traffic stop. Both suspects were in the vehicle with three other minors. All were transported to the State Police barracks in Liberty. It was determined that the other people in the vehicle were not involved with the theft of the vehicle. The two minors, who are siblings, and who stole the vehicle, were charged with Robbery 2nd degree and released on Family Court Appearance Ticket.
