Buffalo, NY – On May 7, 2022, at approximately 8:08 p.m., State Police responded to the Peace Bridge in the city of Buffalo where US Customs and Border Patrol turned over two men who were found to be in possession of a loaded handgun in a vehicle.   A preliminary investigation determined the driver, 31-year-old Mitchell Stokes Jr., made a wrong turn onto the Bridge and was stopped.  During a vehicle search, a loaded Glock 19 handgun was found, along with 4 large capacity magazines and 50 rounds of ammunition.  Stokes and the passenger, Brian D. Brookins, 44, both of Rochester, NY, were taken into custody, transported and processed at SP Buffalo.

Stokes and Brookins were both charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (Loaded Firearm other than in a person’s home/business); a Class C Felony, 4 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (Large Capacity Magazines), and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (Prior Convictions); Class D Felonies.  

The pair were transported to the City of Buffalo lock up to await arraignment.
