PRESS RELEASE
 

On November 22, 2021 New York State Police conducted an Underage Drinking Enforcement Detail in Tompkins County. Two establishments were not in compliance and sold alcohol to a minor. 

The following businesses were not in compliance under the New York Beverage Control Law Section 65, Prohibited Sale to Person Under the Age of 21:

  • Expressmart - North Street, Dryden, NY
  • Dandy Mart - Fall Creek Road, Freeville, NY  

An appearance ticket was issued to each clerk who sold alcohol to the minor. 

 

The business in compliance are recognized for their compliance.  They are:

  • Sunoco – West Main Street, Dryden, NY
  • Dryden Wine & Spirit – West Main Street, Dryden, NY
  • Clarks Food Mart – North Street, Dryden, NY
  • Walgreens – North Street, Dryden, NY
  • Kinney Drugs – North Street, Dryden, NY
  • Speedway – Main Street, Groton, NY
  • Mirabito/Xtra Mart – Peruville Road, Lansing, NY
  • Mobil – North Triphammer Road, Lansing, NY
  • Byrne Dairy – East Main Street, Trumansburg, NY

 

During the Underage Drinking Initiative, retail establishments are checked using a trooper in plain clothes and one or several underaged operatives who cannot lie about their age or give a fake date of birth (if asked).  When asked for ID, they must show their real ID.
