Troop C Commander

PRESS RELEASE

On September 25, 2020 at approximately 3:59 p.m., New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Cristina J. Tilton, age 54 of Mount Vision, NY for the misdemeanors of Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the second degree and Assault in the third degree.

Troopers were dispatched by Otsego County 911 to a report of a crash involving a four-door sedan and motorcycle on Oneida Street and Country Club Road in the town of Oneota.  Oneonta EMS and Fire assisted at the scene and provided medical care.

The driver of the motorcycle, Donald O. Fredenburg, age 78 of Oneonta, NY was ejected off of his bike as a result of the crash.  He was airlifted by LifeNet to Wilson Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries and has since been treated and released.

Troopers interviewed the operator of the sedan, who was identified as Cristina J. Tilton.  The investigation determined that Tilton was traveling east on Oneida Street when she began turning left on to Country Club Road and into the direct path of the motorcycle (which was traveling west on Oneida Street).  Troopers observed characteristics commonly associated with alcohol impairment and also detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage.  Tilton was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which she failed.  She was transported to SP Oneonta for processing where her reportable B.A.C was .10%.  It was also determined that Tilton’s license is revoked.

Tilton was released on appearance tickets to the town of Oneonta court on October 6, 2020 then turned over to a sober third party.
