State Police in Marcy is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred on State Route 49 in the city of Rome.
On August 3, 2022, at 9:39 a.m., a 2009 Buick Lucerne, operated by Kenneth J. Ingerham, age 86 from Clinton, NY was traveling eastbound on Rte 49 when he started to pass a 2006 Subaru Legacy, operated by Ismael C. Velez, age 31 from Rome, NY who was also traveling eastbound in the passing lane. Ingerham started to pass Velez in the driving lane and abruptly made an unsafe lane change without utilizing a turn signal and swerved into the path of Velez, which led to Ingerham’s vehicle being struck by Velez at the driver’s side door.
Ingerham was extricated from the vehicle by members of the Rome Fire Department and was transported by AmCare Ambulance to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for treatment.
Velez was transported to St. Elizabeths Hospital by AmCare Ambulance for neck & abdomen pain while OP-V1 was extricated from the vehicle by Rome FD and complained of chest pain. Both subjects were transported by Rome AmCare to St. Elizabeth’s for further treatment.
State Police were assisted at the scene by Rome Fire Department.
