PRESS RELEASE

On April 27, 2021 New York State Police at Sidney arrested Randy E. Deese, age 35 of Unadilla, NY on numerous felonies after a reported dispute.

On April 27 just after 6 a.m., a trooper was dispatched by Otsego County 911 to check on a 911 hang-up at a residence on State Route 7 in Unadilla.  As the trooper was leaving the barracks to check on the caller, he encountered a victim who had driven to SP Sidney.  The trooper observed that the victim had serious injuries to their face and learned that this was the caller who made the 911 call.

An investigation revealed that Deese arrived at the victim’s home on April 26 and a verbal argument became physical.  Deese is accused of choking the victim, causing the victim to lose consciousness, placing the victim in fear and forcing the victim to sexual contact and intercourse.

On April 27, the victim was able get to a phone and dial 911 then drive to the State Police barracks seeking help.  The victim was transported by ambulance to Tri-Town Hospital to be treated for the injuries sustained.

Troopers responded to the residence and found that Deese had left the area.  A series of investigative steps led troopers and investigator to believe that Deese was in the City of Liberty.  With the assistance of members from Troop F and the City of Liberty Police Department, Deese was taken into custody.  He was turned over to troopers from SP Sidney (Troop C) and transported back to the barracks in Sidney for processing.

Deese has been charged with the following crimes:

Felonies:

  • Rape in the first degree
  • Strangulation in the second degree
  • Coercion in the second degree
  • Stalking in the second degree

Misdemeanors:

  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the fourth degree
  • Unlawful Imprisonment in the second degree
  • Forcible Touching
  • Assault in the third degree

Deese was arraigned and remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $50,000 cash bail.  His next court appearance is scheduled in May.
