State Police have released the name of the individual involved in a crash that occurred on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, which resulted in one fatality.

The driver of a 2006 Lexus, Torrie Carmichael, 45, of Buffalo, NY, was traveling southbound on I-190 and exited at Smith St.  While on the off- ramp, Carmichael failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and drove across the gravel median.  He then struck the guiderail causing the vehicle to overturn down an embankment.

Carmichael, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene by an AMR Paramedic and was transported to ECMC by the Erie County Medical Examiner. 

The crash remains under investigation. 



Buffalo, NY – On September 29, 2021, at approximately 1:35 p.m., State Police responded to a report of a serious one-car rollover crash on I-190 southbound, in the city of Buffalo, Erie County. 

A preliminary investigation has determined the crash occurred on the exit 4 (Smith St – Fillmore Avenue) off ramp.  The vehicle exited the roadway, went down an embankment and flipped onto its roof.  The driver, and sole occupant, has been confirmed deceased.  Troopers are being assisted on scene by traffic safety and EMS. 

No lane blockage or traffic delays exist at this time.  More information will be released as it becomes available.
