State Police have released the names of the drivers involved in the fatal crash that occurred on Thursday, September 10, 2020.

The driver of a 2020 Honda Civic, William D. Paul, 26, of Rochester, NY, was traveling westbound when he struck the rear of a 2011 Kenworth tractor trailer.  The tractor trailer was being operated by Davinder Singh, 46, of Brampton, ON, and was stopped in heavy traffic, approaching the Williamsville tolls.  Singh was not injured in the accident.  

Paul was pronounced deceased at the scene by Erie County Medical Examiner and transported to the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office pending an autopsy.

SP Buffalo Troopers were assisted on scene by Troop A CRU (Collision Reconstruction Unit), Troop A CVEU (Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit), Troop A BCI and Main/Transit Fire Department.

Amherst, NY – On September 10, 2020, at approximately 3:00 p.m., State Police were dispatched to investigate a fatal collision on I-90 westbound, in the town of Amherst, Erie County.

A preliminary investigation determined a 2011 Kenworth tractor trailer traveling west bound was slowing in traffic near the Williamsville tolls. The 2020 Honda Civic rear ended the tractor trailer in the area of mile marker 419.4, between exit 49 (Depew) and exit 50 (Williamsville).  Troopers, EMS, Fire Department, Traffic Safety, and Thruway Maintenance are currently on scene with lane closures. 

The right and center lanes are blocked, and traffic is getting by in the left lane at this time.  Motorists may wish to seek alternate routes due to extended delays. 

This is still an ongoing investigation.
