PRESS RELEASE
UPDATE: On May 22, Gardner, who has been incarcerated at the St. Lawrence County Jail, was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny 3rd degree following an investigation into a series of incidents.
On May 17, 2020, at approximately 12 a.m., Gardner was apprehended following the issuance of a parole warrant. He was found to be operating a stolen vehicle which he took from Austin Layng Auto and Marine Repair in the city of Ogdensburg. Gardner was located and taken into custody by Ogdensburg Police.
Gardner was arraigned by the Ogdensburg City Court. Due to his four prior felony convictions, he was remanded back to the St. Lawrence County Jail. He is to reappear in the Ogdensburg City Court at a later date and time. This investigation is continuing.

Original release: On May 16, 2020, State Police arrested 36-year-old Victor R. Gardner of Ogdensburg, for Attempted Burglary 3rd degree, Criminal Mischief 4th degree, Petit Larceny and Possession of Burglar Tools. An investigation revealed Gardner had attempted to commit a burglary in the Ogdensburg area.
He was being released on appearance tickets when he complained of chest pains and was transported by State Police to Claxton Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg.
While he was being treated by hospital staff, he left before he could be transferred to Parole. It is not believed that Gardner is a danger to the public. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact New York State Police in Ogdensburg at 315-379-0012.
