UPDATE:

The State Police are releasing the names of the people killed in yesterday’s accident on the NY State Thruway in Seneca County.

Sisters, Maryella Annal, age 11, and Elizabeth Annal, age 9, from Baldwinsville, NY died when the vehicle they were passengers in was struck from behind by a pickup truck.

The following individuals were involved in the accident:

Their mother, Maureen Annal, age 50, was airlifted to Strong Hospital with very serious injuries.

Their father, Thomas Annal, age 54, was also airlifted to Strong Hospital with serious injuries.

The operator of the pickup truck, Abraham Hara, age 73, from Geneva, and was not injured.

The operator of the second passenger vehicle that was struck is Kelsy Wilson, age 25, from Elmira, was taken to Geneva General Hospital for evaluation.

The operator of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

 

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.

On September 3, 2020, at approximately 10:29 a.m., the State Police responded to a 4 vehicle, 2- person fatal on the New York State Thruway in the westbound lanes at the Junius Ponds Rest Area, Seneca County.

Investigators believe that traffic was slowing for a lane closure when a pickup truck failed to slow down and struck a minivan from behind, which struck a small passenger vehicle, which struck a tractor-trailer.

The 2 rear seat belted passengers in the minivan, ages 9 and 11 were killed.

The driver and front seat passenger of that minivan were airlifted to Strong Hospital with serious injuries.

The operator of the truck was treated at the scene.

The operator of the other passenger vehicle was transported to Geneva General Hospital for non-life -threatening injuries.

The State Thruway is still closed in the westbound lanes and traffic is being diverted through the rest area.

 

The names of all parties will be released after notifications are made.

The investigation is continuing and charges into this matter are pending.
