UPDATE:
State Police release the name of the individual killed in Sunday’s fatal crash on St-Rte 104 at Five Mile Line Road in Webster. Greg Hixenbaugh, age 52, from Churchville was killed when his vehicle crashed into the bridge abutment on St-Rte 104 and Five Mile Line Road.
The investigation is continuing.
On January 8, 2023, at approximately 1:34 p.m., a State Trooper observed a 2020 Jeep Renegade traveling eastbound on ST-104 in the Town of Webster at a high rate of speed. The Trooper pulled out from his stationary position and while attempting to catch up to the target vehicle, the Jeep Renegade drove off the south shoulder and struck the bridge abutment at Five Mile Line Road. The vehicle overturned and caught fire. The Trooper utilized a fire extinguisher to control the fire and extinguish the flames.
The operator was pronounced deceased at the scene and was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The driver’s name is being withheld pending family notification. The West Webster Fire Department responded and assisted at the scene. The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is continuing the investigation. The NYS Office of the Attorney General responded to the scene.
