The State Police announce the name of the person killed in Wednesday’s fatal accident on St-Rte 104.  Thomas Bartula, age 63, from Ontario was killed when he stopped his vehicle on St-Rte 104 when an item fell the trunk of his car and was struck by another vehicle.

The operator of the second vehicle was also taken to Rochester General Hospital for precautionary measures.

The investigation is continuing. 


On May 26, 2021, at approximately 11:49 a.m., the State Police responded to a fatal accident on St-Rte 104 eastbound near the Goodman Street Exit.  A motorist stopped in the center lane after an item fell out of the trunk when the vehicle was struck by another eastbound vehicle from behind.

The operator was given life saving measures and was transported to Rochester General Hospital and pronounced deceased.

Additional information will be released after the family of the deceased is notified and the investigation is continuing.
