UPDATE: State police respond to a fatal car fire on the Palisades Parkway

UPDATE: The State Police are asking any members of the public who may have witnessed the vehicle crash and fire of a grey 2021 Hyundai Sonata on February 16, 2021 at approximately 2 a.m. on the Palisades Parkway southbound at exit 16 in the town of Stony Point, to contact the Troop F Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) at SP Haverstraw at (845) 344-5300.

On February 16, 2021 at approximately 2 a.m., troopers patrolling the Palisades Parkway observed a dark colored vehicle on the shoulder at exit 16 fully engulfed in flames. The vehicle was in a snowbank and facing west. The troopers were not able to immediately determine if anyone was in the vehicle. The Stony Point Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. Troopers observed one occupant in the vehicle obviously deceased. This is an ongoing investigation.
