UPDATE- Preliminary investigation has revealed that Loucks suffered a medical event and was not in control of her vehicle at the time of the collision. It is not believed that speed or alcohol were contributing factors in the accident.

 


UPDATE-State Police confirm the identity of the driver killed in this morning’s fatal motor vehicle accident in Schoharie to be that of 64-year-old Janet M. Loucks of Schoharie. Investigation into this incident is ongoing, any further updates will be posted on the newsroom.



July 23, 2019 – SP Cobleskill
 
Troopers and Investigators from SP Cobleskill responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident on State Route 30 in the Town of Schoharie shortly before 8:00 a.m.  The collision involved a northbound commercial dump truck and a passenger vehicle which entered the roadway from a private driveway.  A portion of State Route 30 was closed because of the collision.

The operator of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead on scene and removed by the Schoharie County Coroner.  Released of the deceased’s name is pending notification to next of kin. 

The Troop G Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit (CVEU) responded to the scene to assess the commercial vehicle involved in the collision.  The State Police were assisted with the investigation by members of the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Department, New York State DOT, and first responders from the Schoharie and Central Bridge Fire Departments.

Investigation into the cause of the accident is continuing.
