Albany, NY – On April 25, 2021, at approximately 1:00 a.m., State Police received a report of a disabled vehicle on I-87 in the city of Albany.  During the course of the Trooper’s investigation, it was determined that the driver, David H. Austin, 45, of Utica, NY, left the scene of a property damage accident on I-787 in the city of Albany, where his vehicle struck a sign.  Austin continued driving onto the Thruway before his GMC Sierra pickup truck became disabled.   

 

Austin was found to be intoxicated and was taken into custody.  He was transported and processed at SP Albany, where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.21%.  He was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated; an Unclassified Misdemeanor.

 

Austin was turned over to a sober third party and released on an appearance ticket returnable to the City of Albany Court on May 10, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.
