On Thursday, September 26, 2019 members from the New York State Police were part of a Joint Agency Underage Drinker Initiative held in the City of Ithaca.  Other agencies included the Ithaca City Police Department, Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department, Cornell University Police, Investigators from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and Investigators from the New York State Liquor Authority. 
Five establishments were checked in the City of Ithaca.  Violations were found in four of the five establishments. 
  • Moonies Bar & Nightclub (East State Street)
  • Silky Jones (East State Street)
  • Hideaway (Eddy Street)
  • Loco (Stewart Avenue)
 Level B Bar, Lounge & Dancing (Eddy Street) was the only establishment with no violations

A total of 37 patrons were charged with Possessing a Fraudulent License after they were found in possession of fake ID’s in order to enter the alcohol serving establishments.  Each of those patrons was issued a citation for the violation of Use or Possess Forged/Fictitious License and was issued appearance tickets to the City of Ithaca court on October 9, 2019. 
Investigators from the New York State Liquor Authority arrested one individual for the Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Section 65; Prohibited Sales after they found an underage male purchase alcohol without showing identification. 
Additionally, two traffic stops during the detail resulted in three tickets, including one for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the third degree, a misdemeanor.
