On May 8, 2022, Troopers out of SP Clarence arrested Charles E. Hurd., 44, of Winchester, VA, for Driving While Intoxicated and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th.

During a traffic stop on Main Street in the town of Clarence, Hurd was exhibiting signs of impairment. Troopers determined Hurd had been operating a vehicle while in an impaired condition.  Hurd had failed standardized field sobriety tests.  Hurd was found to be in possession of cocaine.  He was arrested, transported and processed at SP Clarence, where he refused to submit to a chemical test.  Hurd was released with appearance tickets for the town of Clarence court, where he is due to appear at a later date.
