Wappingers Falls man arrested for DWI with a B.A.C. more than twice the legal limit following a crash on the Thruway.

Newburgh, NY – On February 10, 2021, at approximately 12:50 a.m., State Police responded to a one car motor vehicle crash on I-87 in the town of Newburgh.  The investigation revealed a 2016 Ford Edge struck a guide rail and snow embankment.  The uninjured driver, Ronald Phillips, 51, of Wappingers Falls, NY, was found to be intoxicated.  

 

Phillips was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Newburgh, where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.18%.  He was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated; an Unclassified Misdemeanor.

 

Phillips was turned over to a sober third party and released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Newburgh Court on February 22, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
