On September 26, 2019, State Police arrested 30-year-old Matthew P. Jones of Warrensburg, for Criminal Possession of Marihuana 2nd degree (D felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th degree (D felony), Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd degree (A misdemeanor), and Resisting Arrest (A misdemeanor).
Shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, Troopers stopped a vehicle on I-87 south in the town of Queensbury, after the driver was observed committing multiple traffic infractions.
When the Trooper interviewed the driver Matthew Jones, he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Jones was asked to exit the car multiple times and refused to do so. When informed that he was under arrest for Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd degree, Jones continued to refuse to exit his vehicle. Once physically removed by Troopers, Jones continued to resist being placed in custody.
Jones was secured by patrols, and a search of his vehicle was conducted during which Troopers located over a pound of marijuana and a quantity of concentrated cannabis.
Jones was transported to SP Queensbury for processing. He was arraigned in Queensbury Town Court.
