Van Buren, NY – On April 25, at approximately 8:00 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-90, in the town of Van Buren, for a vehicle and traffic violation.  During the Trooper’s investigation, it was determined the driver of the vehicle, Franklin H. Jourdanais Jr. 41, of Waterford, NY, was found to have a suspended license and was in possession of a large quantity of untaxed/unstamped cigarettes.  Approximately 34 cartons and 37 bags of loose cigarettes, a total of 13,000 cigarettes, were seized by the Troopers.

 

Jourdanais was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Syracuse where he was charged with Willfully Possessing, Transporting, or Selling 10K+ Unstamped Cigarettes under the New York State Tax Law; a Class E Felony and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd degree; an Unclassified Misdemeanor.

 

Jourdanais was released with appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Van Buren Court on June 3, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
