On August 25, 2020, State Police in Latham arrested 27-year-old Anthony M. Messina of Watervliet, for Criminal Contempt 1st degree, a class E felony and Assault 3rd degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Shortly before midnight on Tuesday, State Police were called to the area exits 3 and 4 of I-87 for a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arriving, Troopers located the victim in a vehicle parked on the side of the road. Investigation determined that the victim had been struck in the face by Anthony Messina following a verbal argument. Messina had fled the area prior to the arrival of police. The victim, who was the protected party in an order of protection against Messina, had minor injuries.

Messina was located a short time later walking down Albany Shaker Road by a member of the Colonie Police Department, and was turned over to State Police. He was transported to SP Latham for processing and then to Albany County Jail to await arraignment.
