On June 20, 2020, State Police in New Scotland arrested 50-year-old Frank Bryant of Westerlo, for Assault 1st degree (B felony) and Criminal Possession of Weapon 4th degree (A misdemeanor).

At approximately 2:52 p.m. on Saturday, Troopers responded to the area of State Route 32 and County Route 404 in Westerlo, for a report of a fight in progress. Upon arriving at the scene, Troopers located a male victim with visible injuries laying in the roadway behind his vehicle. The victim was transported via ambulance to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

Investigation determined that the victim was assaulted by Frank Bryant following a verbal altercation between the victim and members of Bryant’s family that had taken place earlier at Price Chopper in Glenmont. During the assault Bryant struck the victim multiple times with a metal pipe.

Byant left the scene prior to the arrival of police and taken into custody at his home a short time later. He was arraigned by a judge from Westerlo Town Court and remanded to Albany County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash or $25,000 bond. He is due back in court on a later date.
