Woman arrested after return scam

 

 

 

On September 30, 2022, New York State Police at Ithaca arrested Laura B. Watkins, age 40 of Ithaca, NY for the class “E” felony of Grand Larceny in the fourth degree.  

 

An investigation began in March when troopers were alerted to a report that an employee who was working at Claire’s located at the Shops at Ithaca in the village of Lansing was returning items that she never purchased and crediting herself with money.  Numerous returns with large refunds took place over several days totaling over $1,300.  

 

Watkins was arrested and processed at SP Ithaca.  She was released on appearance tickets to the Lansing Town Court on October 13, 2022.
