Newburgh, NY – On July 24, 2021, just before 5:00 a.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87, in the town of Newburgh, for a vehicle and traffic violation.  The driver of the vehicle, Richard A. Sarno, 43, of Yonkers, NY, was found to be intoxicated while traveling with his two daughters, ages 9 and 13.  Sarno was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Newburgh where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.13%.

Sarno was subsequently charged with two counts of Driving While Intoxicated with a Child in the Vehicle; a Class E Felony.  Sarno was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Newburgh Court on August 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.  He and the children were then turned over to a responsible third party.
