Yorkshire man arrested for felony DWI

On August 1, 2021, SP Machias Troopers arrested George M. Diamantes, 32, of Yorkshire, NY for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated – Two Previous Convictions Within Ten Years, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree, and Using a Vehicle Without an Interlock Device.

During a traffic stop on State Route 16 in the town of Yorkshire, Troopers observed Diamantes exhibiting obvious signs of intoxication and determined he had been operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition. He refused to complete standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. Diamantes was then arrested and transported to SP Machias, where he refused to submit to a chemical breath test.

Diamantes was arraigned in Perrysburg Town Court and released on his own recognizance. He is due to appear in Yorkshire Town Court in September.
